On 8 May 2025, the Church celebrates with hope the election of Leo XIV as the new pope. He is Robert Prevost, an Augustinian born in Chicago but deeply connected to Peru, known for his humility, prayer and closeness to the people. His first message focuses on peace, dialogue and unity, words he lived before he spoke to them. Inspired by Saint Augustine, he presents himself as a bridge between communities, a serene continuation of Francis’ legacy. His leadership promises a mature Church that unites science and charity, reflection and service, without spectacle, with firmness and compassion.
